Copying HTML Code
There have been times that I've seen something on another blog that I wanted to copy in my HTML code, like keeping the background from scrolling with the body, the size of the header, deleting the lines around a header, or which template was used. To see the entire HTML code for another site, right click on the background, and select "View Page Source" or "View Source". You can also access this from your browser's View menu. Seeing the code from others can help you learn to manipulate your own code more effectively.

So I'm just starting to play around with HTML, but I wondered how you can tell what the thing you want to copy is in the code. For example, I really liked the slide show on this blog http://greatharvestboise.com/ and I viewed the page source, but I can't tell which part I need to copy and paste. I tried what I thought made sense, but all it did was put several pictures and the text all in a column on my blog...Any help? By the way, I'm Emily's cousin and I think this is a fabulous site!
ReplyDeleteSomething like the slideshow would have to be created separately and then added to your blog as a gadget. I did a quick search and found a couple of possible free downloads to help you create what you want. After creating them, the program should generate the html code you need. Then you should be able to go to your blog, Add a Gadget, HTML/Javascript, and paste your code in. Let me know if you have further questions. If neither of these work for you, I can search some more.
